Mandatory Filing for Singapore Businesses

Do I need to File?

Corporate income tax filing with IRAS is compulsory for all companies operating in Singapore. The obligation stands whether you turned a profit, made a loss, or stayed dormant for the year.

COMPULSORY
All incorporated companies

Every company incorporated in Singapore, private or public, and Singapore branches of foreign companies must file a corporate income tax return each year.

NO EXCEPTIONS
Loss-making or dormant

A return is still required even if the company had no income, reported a loss, or was dormant during the financial year, unless IRAS has waived the requirement.

DIFFERENT RULES
Sole props & partnerships

Sole proprietorships and partnerships aren't taxed as companies as their profits are reported under the owners' personal income tax instead.

Missing 30 November is an Offence!

Late or non-filing under the Income Tax Act draws penalties that escalate. A late-filing offence starts at S$200 and rises to S$1,000 for repeat misses, climbing further the longer it stands.
